Forestry Facilities
Chiayi Sawmill
In 1912, the Alishan Forest Railway was opened to traffic covering an area of 20,000 square meters, and a large number of logs from Alishan began to be transported down the mountain. The Chiayi Timber Factory, completed in 1913, was the largest government-run timber industrial park during the Japanese colonial period. It had the most advanced
Facilities and technology to store the wood cut down from Alishan.
It undertakes the important task of processing wood into "timber". With its large scale and equipped with advanced European and American equipment, Chiayi Lumber Factory is known as the "No. 1 in the East".
In 1941, the Zhongpu earthquake caused the timber mill to collapse. In order to meet the military needs of the Pacific War, the second generation timber mill with wooden structure was built to ensure rapid recovery, taking into account earthquake resistance and limited funds.
Timber processing work.
In 1963, the government stopped felling natural trees. The following year, the Chiayi Lumberyard's lumberyard also ceased operations and became history. The buildings in the park were even used for other purposes. It was not until 2009 that the park renovation project began, gradually allowing the lumberyard's past glory to reappear before the world's eyes.
The park officially opened to the public on June 30, 2019, and is the best place to experience forestry culture and relax.
Train Station
Beimen Railroad Station
Beimen Station is located on the right side of the Alishan Railway in the climbing direction. It is estimated to have been built between 1910 and 1912. It is a typical Japanese-style station building made of Alishan red cypress. Unfortunately, a fire broke out on May 16, 1998. Fortunately, only 40% of the right side was burned. The government allocated a budget for renovation, and the renovation was completed on November 7 of the same year. The station was damaged during the September 21st Earthquake in 1999, and a budget was allocated for repairs again, resulting in its current appearance.

Park Facilities
Hinoki Village
Hinoki Village used to be the dormitory section of the Chiayi Forest Station under the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency of Taiwan Soutokufu. Forestry is the most prominent industry of Chiayi, with the forestry dormitories as the witness of the historical meaning of forestry culture and the development of Chiayi.

Park Facilities
Forest Club Exhibition Center
The Tudor-style architecture was erected in 1914 during the Japanese Colonization Period. It was a venue for guests and local staff for leisure and entertainment purposes in the first place. In 1987, it was converted into staff dormitory by the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency.

Park Facilities
Agricultural Boutique Center
Local premium produce from Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan are exhibited to promote the transformation of the local agriculture. In addition to the enhancement of marketing capability, creative cultural artworks by local cultural workers and retired volunteers are combined to organize special exhibitions on a regular basis.

Park Facilities
T05
Historical background: During the renovation of T05, two bathing pools for men and women from the Japanese colonial period were accidentally discovered in the building. The two bathing pools provide an understanding of the bathing culture of forestry personnel at that time.

Park Facilities
T24 Director's dormitory
There are 30 historical buildings in the district. After analyzing the styles of Japanese buildings based on the existing building space layout, it was found that there are 4 types of building styles in this area, namely single-family buildings, semi-detached two-family buildings, four-family buildings and townhouses, with an area ranging from 13-30 pings. Among them, T24 was the official residence of the director of the Chiayi Branch Office of the Forestry District of the Taiwan Governor-General's Office at that time. It was the highest grade - Class A senior official residence and the most historically significant. The roof tiles of this building are different from other Japanese black tiles or improved ideal tiles. They are made of cement slabs and Taiwanese red tiles, making this building look particularly elegant.

Park Facilities
T23 Mianyuelu
Mianyuelu is the last restored building in the entire Huiyi Forest Village. It is currently a multi-functional reading room that houses thousands of precious forestry books and multimedia materials. The space inside the hut can be used by resident artists and studios, and it also hosts reading and listening lectures related to Alishan forestry, culture, ecology, and forest railway, a forest railway story house, and a handcraft classroom.

Park Facilities
Song of Forest
“Song of Forest” is an artwork commissioned by the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency to Wen-Chih Wang, an internationally- renowned artist local to Chiayi; it took the artist six months to complete. It is a 14-meter high image of the sacred tree and forest railway and has become the new landmark of the Forestry Village.

Park Facilities
Chiayi Motive Power Room Wood Sculpture Museum
The "Chiayi Timber Mill Powerhouse" was built in 1913 as one of the facilities of the Chiayi Forestry and Timber Mill during the Japanese colonial period. It is a reinforced concrete building with a large span that was rare in Taiwan in the past. The plant uses an 800-kW AC generator and a 50-kW DC generator imported from the United States to generate electricity. It also has British-made water-tube steam boilers, water heaters, water pumps, iron earthquake-resistant chimneys and other equipment, which together form a thermal power plant. In addition to supplying electricity to timber mills, wood storage pools and other forestry production systems, it is also the power center of the Beimen area of Chiayi.
As the Alishan Forest Farm stopped logging, the historical features of the power room building structure and the pipe holes on the original cement base are still preserved. The exterior retains the red brick chimney base, flue and sawdust room on the north side. In 2002, the power room, sawdust room and drying warehouse were jointly registered as the historical building of "Former Chiayi Lumber Mill" in Chiayi City. In order to revitalize and reuse the historical building, it took a year from July 2009 to renovate the power room and reuse it as a wood carving exhibition hall, displaying 47 works created by domestic wood carving masters using fallen red cypress trees. They are like works of art standing in the forest, becoming an art base for the preservation of logs and forestry culture.

Park Facilities
Exhaust duct remains
The exhaust gas and heat generated by the boiler in the power room reach the chimney through the exhaust port connected to the exhaust duct, and produce convection with the fresh air outside to discharge the black smoke and waste heat. The 1964 Baihe Earthquake destroyed the smoke exhaust chimney, which was once a landmark of Chiayi City. Today, only the cross-section of the structure remains, and it is a designated historical building in Chiayi City.

Park Facilities
Hand-weaving factory
It was built in 1965 when the Forestry and Conservation Administration's Second Labor Education Center was established as a place to practice hand-weaving various bamboo products. In 1969, the Chiayi Bamboo Crafts Processing Factory was officially established and has continued to be used as a hand-weaving factory. It is now a training classroom.
Park Facilities
Machine Factory
After the first lumber mill was destroyed by the Zhongpu Earthquake in 1941, the Japanese government built a new one to meet the huge demand for timber in the Pacific War. The entire building is made of a large amount of wood and joints, and the power and sawdust transportation equipment are placed underground. It was excavated in 2017 and is a designated historical building in Chiayi City.
Park Facilities
Wood chip room
Wood chip storage space. The wood chips produced by the first generation of sawmills were sent to the sawdust room via a conveyor belt, and then sent to the power room via another conveyor belt to be used as fuel for thermal power generation. The cement base and opening structure still remain, and it is a designated historical building in Chiayi City.
Park Facilities
Drying chamber
After the wood products are sorted, they are sent for drying. The drying chamber uses a natural circulation push-type hot air drying method, which achieves drying by heating the air to produce internal and external adjustments of humidity and wind speed. The main body of the building has now been restored, and the wood drying process is presented through exhibition techniques. It is a designated historical building in Chiayi City.
Park Facilities
Overhead Crane
A wood lifting facility consisting of two towers at the front and rear and steel cables. According to historical records, the first crane tower of the lumber mill was located approximately at the current garage park repair factory, and the tail crane tower was located near Fujita Village, separated by a cedar pond for storing wood, with a maximum area of 6.2 hectares. The overhead crane in the Chiayi Timber Factory is a proportional image.
Park Facilities
Office
It was newly built after the Zhongpu earthquake in 1941 and was called the "Office" at the time. In 1965, it served as the office of the Second Labor Education Center of the Forestry and Conservation Administration and is a designated historical building in Chiayi City.
