Located in the Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area, it belongs to the Shiman reservoir catchment area, and is part of the west edge of Xue (Snow) Mountain Range. With its shape similar to the silhouette of a laying person’ face, and the sunrise from the eye hole of the face, it is accordingly named Dongyanshan (Eastern Eye Mountain). The forest is made up of beautifully trimmed plantation, natural forest rich in diversity, trace fossils made by crabs and shrimps thirty million years ago, as well as other geological sites of marine sediments.

Route 2
Sanying Interchange → Dapu → Provincial Highway No. 7B → Sanmin → Provincial Highway No. 7 → Fuxing → Taoyuan County Highway 119 → Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area. The tour bus ride takes about 90 minutes.
Route 3
Sanying Interchange → Dapu → Provincial Highway No. 7B → North County Road 114 → North County Road 113 → Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area, the journey takes about 80 minutes. [North County Road 113 is only accessible to small passenger cars]
By bus
Take Taoyuan free bus L807 "Dongyanshan Line 2" opposite the Daxi District Office and get off at the last stop, Dongyanshan Forest Recreation Area (about 2 hours). The departure time from Daxi District Office to Dongyanshan Forest Recreation Area is 06:30 and 15:00; the departure time from Dongyanshan Forest Recreation Area to Daxi District Office is 08:30 and 17:00. Fossil area: The fossils found in this area are trace fossils left by the activities of shrimps and crabs 30 million years ago. They were discovered when the Dongyanshan forest road was opened and then preserved in this area for teaching and research purposes.
Parent-Child Peak: There are two peaks, one large and one small, standing above the end of the Dongyanshan Forest Trail. The terrain is very special and from a distance it looks like a loving mother with her child, overflowing with family affection and a very intimate feeling, hence the name "Parent-Child Peak".
Afforestation Memorial Stone: Below the end of the Dongyanshan Forest Trail, there stands a natural boulder. It was left by the former Hsinchu Forest Management Office, Daxi Branch, in 1955 to commemorate the afforestation work at Dongyanshan.

The Visitor Center is the first stop for providing visitors with park information and services. It includes four spaces with different functions and characteristics: the Forest Exhibition Hall, Forest Image Hall, the Game Room, and the Forest Life Hall Museum.

After the green building renovation project, the Administrative Center presents the concept of "sustainable living" and concretely presents environmentally friendly architectural spaces and building materials. It mainly provides the space needed by participants in the center's activities, including multi-functional classroom space, accommodation space for overnight theme activities, and of course accommodation space and offices for staff. It is a demonstration of a high-quality environment.

Located between the mountains, you will see the entrance gate of Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area. On the right is the ticket office. Please pay the ticket fee according to the number of people entering the park and the type of vehicle. In addition, we have also arranged a first aid room and first aid equipment in this area in case of emergency.

There is a large parking lot in front of the visitor center, which is mainly used by large buses. For tourists driving small cars, please continue along the driveway in front of the visitor center and you will arrive at a small car parking lot. If you are a leisurely motorcyclist, we also provide a place for you to park your vehicle. About 50 meters after entering the toll booth, there is a connecting road on the left side, which is a shortcut to the motorcycle parking lot.
