Wulai Trolley was meant for log transportation in the early times. Owing to the visitors demand from Wulai Waterfall tourism development, it was converted to passenger transportation purpose in 1963 driven by personnel manually. To meet the increasing demand of visitors, it was motorized in 1974 with a diesel locomotive to drive the trolley. In 1987, a tunnel was constructed at Waterfall Stop in spite of all difficulties to replace the original turntable for the locomotive to turn around, which is still operational today. The 1.5km line between Wulai and Waterfall Stops operates from 9:00 to 17:00 on a daily basis. Also, the timetable will be adjusted to accommodate the peak season in the summer to serve tourists on demand.

Wulai Waterfall
Wulai Waterfall is famous throughout Taiwan. It originates from a stream on Dabao Mountain. It is about 80 meters high and 10 meters wide. When there is abundant rainfall, the waterfall splits into two springs. The water rushes down from the valley like a rainbow, falls into the pool or crashes onto the rocks, causing a surging spring sound that echoes endlessly. The old name "Clouds Come to the Waterfall" means that the mountains here are towering and filled with clouds and mist all year round. The waterfall seems to be rushing down from the clouds. The viewing platform near the station is the best place to enjoy the waterfall. Another attraction for viewing the waterfall is Wulai Waterfall Park, which has become the best place to view cherry blossoms in Wulai. The park is not located in the waterfall scenic area near the station, but on the hillside beside the mountain road further up. If you drive to Wulai and park at the parking lot on Huanshan Road, you can easily visit Wulai Waterfall Park, which has cherry blossom avenues, Takasago Volunteer Corps Monument, tree-lined trails, Frog Valley and other trails and ecological environments. When visiting Wulai in March, the most popular thing is the cherry blossoms that cover the mountains and valleys. The cherry blossoms here are mainly Yoshino cherry, with a few Fuji cherry, all transplanted from Japan. Located above the mountain road, at the top of the stone steps between the Naruwan Hotel and the cable car company, there is a stone tablet with the words "Takao Oto's Thousand Cherry Blossoms". It records the donation of 1,000 Yoshino cherry trees by Mr. Takao Ito, a permanent director of the China-Japan Friendship Association in 1973. The Yoshino cherry blossoms here are the same variety as those in Alishan, but they bloom earlier. The Cherry Blossom Festival held from January to March every year has become the highlight of Wulai tourism.

Train Station
Wulai Station
Wulai Station is located at the intersection of Lansheng Bridge and Wenquan Road in Wulai District, New Taipei City. It connects the old street, Lansheng Bridge and the waterfall, with a line of about 1.5 kilometers. In the early days, the Wulai trolley was used by the Forestry and Conservation Department to transport timber materials. It was manpower-propelled and the track was designed in a slope. The personnel responsible for transportation pushed the trolley up the mountain, and the wood had to slide down the slope. Later, it was transformed into a vehicle for transporting tourists, and its functions evolved into today's powered trolley.

Wulai Forestry Life Museum
The predecessor of the Wulai Trolley Museum was the waiting room of the Waterfall Station of the sightseeing trolley. It was gradually planned based on the starting point of "setting up a museum on the original site" and developed into a living museum park model, injecting new life into the abandoned space, searching for the lost history of the Wulai Trolley, and leaving many memories for this mountain forest. In 2006, the Wulai Railway History and Cultural Survey and the filming of the explanatory video were launched, and a history and cultural survey project was carried out. It is expected that the staff will be stationed on site to conduct oral history interviews and collect cultural relics in order to collect various materials needed for the future railway museum exhibition.
