Fenglin Town, Hualien County
Lintianshan Forestry Culture Park
Hidden in Fonglin, Hualien, Lintianshan used to be known as MOLISAKA (the pronunciation similar to “MORISAKA” [Note 1] in Japanese). After liberation from Japan, it was renamed as Senrong. It is the most complete, unique lumbering base preserved in Taiwan. Back in the glorious days of lumbering in the 1960s, it was referred as “Little Shanghai”, which was one of the four prominent forest areas of Taiwan. Lintianshan is the most significant base as well as the witness to the development history of forestry in Taiwan. Note 1: “SAKA” in Japanese means “slope”. The reason Japanese called Lintianshan MORISAKA” was due to the ample woods on the hill, a tribute from Japanese to Lintianshan.

Park Facilities
Forestry Recreation Hall
The former "welfare club", "fish and vegetable department" and "laundry department" had a fish and vegetable department and a laundry department next to the cement square, which were directly operated by the employee welfare committee. The fish and vegetable department had a contract manufacturer that supplied pork, fish, vegetables, etc. at affordable prices, providing daily necessities for community residents and mountain workers. The goods are cheap, fresh, and of various types, which is very convenient. In order to keep the meat fresh, butchers transport live pigs to the mountains to slaughter them on site, while forest farms on the flat land supply already slaughtered pork.
The establishment of the laundry department not only provides laundry services for those who come to the forest farm to work alone, but ironing clothes is also a skill. At that time, the fabrics were all khaki and cotton, which would wrinkle after washing and must be ironed. It only costs NT$20 to iron a shirt, but after being ironed by the experienced employees of the laundry department, it will look bright and energetic when worn.
After being restored, the museum is now called "Forestry Recreation Hall
". It is currently used as a place to display wood carving works and sell wooden souvenirs. The Hall also provides wood-cultivation games for children to play with.

Park Facilities
Forestry Exhibition Hall
The early material warehouse was renovated and became the current "Lintianshan Forestry Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall". The Forestry Relics Exhibition Hall preserves a variety of historical relics from the early days of Lintianshan, such as logging tools, fire-fighting equipment, and daily necessities for the forest farm, allowing visitors to understand the lifestyle of Lintianshan residents during the logging period and the forest farm operations, and have a deeper understanding of Lintianshan forestry.

Park Facilities
Charcoal Plant
It is a factory that specializes in producing charcoal. In the early days, the Lintianshan Timber Factory produced a lot of sawdust during sawing. In order to make full use of it, the Workers' Welfare Committee planned to set up a charcoal factory in 1962. The sawdust was baked and compressed to make cylindrical charcoal for sale, and the proceeds were used as welfare for the employees. As timber production decreased, the business closed in 1978. Since the original factory buildings and machines of the Charcoal Factory are well preserved, including the rotary kilns, blowers, molding machines and conveying pipes used at that time, they are of great cultural and educational value. After being restored, they were opened to the public in 2023.

Park Facilities
Wanrong Office
The first-class cypress wooden office building built in 1954 was originally a rectangular office building. It has been expanded year by year. A long wooden building with protruding ends was added on the west side. The brick building on the east side was strengthened to be symmetrical with the west side for typhoon prevention, finally forming the current "I-shaped" layout.

Park Facilities
Fire Ruins (KangLe Village)
In the 1950s, in response to the logging boom, five rows of workers' dormitories were built with cement foundations, wooden walls, and red-tiled sloping roofs, totaling 36 households. Each household was about 11 square meters. Although small in size, the neatly-knit red-tiled houses looked quite beautiful at the time and were named "Kangle New Village." The long stone staircase leads up to the longhouse-style buildings on both sides, earning it the nickname "Little Jiufen".

Park Facilities
Our Lady of Lourdes Church
A Catholic Church built in 1971 located at the front right of Senrong Elementary School.

Park Facilities
The Presbyterian Church
Rev. Dr. Robert Donnell McCall from the USA paid a visit and gave testimony in February 1964; the church was completed in August the same year.

Park Facilities
Earth God Temple (Fuan Temple)
The Earth God Temple was the place for workers in the forest station to pray for blessings.

Park Facilities
Syudong Pavilion
The renovated Syudong Pavilion is quite different from its original appearance with a cornice. This is the best place for overlooking the forest station.

Park Facilities
Jhongshan Hall
Jhongshan Hall is the spiritual sustenance of the forest farm. It was built in 1954. The then director, Mr. Wang Xiaolin, felt that the number of employees and their families in the forest farm was increasing, and the social hall was no longer sufficient, so he raised funds to build a large auditorium as a venue for gatherings.

Park Facilities
Steam Locomotive
A retired gas locomotive of Kato Works is parked in front of the garage.

Park Facilities
Senrong Elementary School
There was no school in Lintianshan during the Japanese occupation period, and children from the forest farm had to go to school at the Wanliqiao Public School (the predecessor of Changqiao Elementary School) three kilometers away. After Taiwan's restoration, forestry workers actively sought to establish a primary school in Lintianshan for their children's schooling. Finally, in 1947, the "Senrong Substitute Primary School" Note 1 was established; in 1949, it was renamed the "Lintianshan Branch Class." In September 1954, the county government took over the school and renamed it "Nagabashi Elementary School Moriyoshi Branch School." As the logging expenses of the forest farm increased, more and more residents gathered in the forest farm, and more children needed to go to school, so a complete school site was built on the hillside to the east of Zhongshan Hall. On October 1, 1958, "Senrong Elementary School" was officially established. At that time, junior high schools adopted a joint examination system, and the graduates of Senrong Elementary School all performed well. Most students' scores could be assigned to schools such as Hualien Middle School, Hualien Girls' Middle School, and Fenglin Middle School. The admission rate was no less than that of the star elementary schools in Hualien City, so many students from neighboring areas would come to study there. In 1987, the management pattern of the forest farm gradually changed, the number of residents in Lintianshan decreased, and the number of students dropped sharply. On August 1, 1987, Senrong Elementary School was changed to a branch of Changqiao Elementary School. It was officially closed on August 1 of the following year. Senrong Elementary School finally became history along with the Lintianshan Forest Farm.
